Kinder Scout is the highest point in the Peak District with its peak hitting 636 meters above sea level. Views stretch west towards Lantern Pike. Kinder Scout is part of the Dark Peak Site of Special Scientific Interest, and part of the plateau was designated as a National Nature Reserve in 2009.On 24th April, 1932, hundreds of people defied the law to walk over hills and moorland to the plateau of Kinder Scout, in a mass trespass to secure access rights to open country for all.
 
We overlook Kinder Reservoir (to the left) and the mysterious Mermaid’s Pool (to the right); which according to legend, is inhabited by a mermaid who will grant immortality upon whoever sees her on Easter Eve. In the distance you can just catch the City of Manchester.
