Standing 1,191 feet (363 m) tall Rivington Pike is actually a hill sitting as part of the larger Winter Hill. Crowning the Rivington summit is the Grade II listed Pike Tower, a gritstone hunting lodge built in 1733 by John Andrews, then owner of the Manor of Rivington. Below lies the Rivington Terraced Garden and Lever Park, developed in the early 20th century by soap magnate William Hesketh Lever (later Lord Leverhulme) with landscape architect Thomas Mawson. Together they helped shape the extraordinary mixture of moorland, woodland, gardens and architecture that makes Rivington far more than a walk to the summit.
 
This scene depicts a view facing north with Pike Tower in prominent position and just to the left of the scene, Pigeon Tower which sits above the Terraced Gardens.
